    Year Published: A strategy for monitoring glaciers. Glaciers are important features in the hydrologic cycle and affect the volume, variability, and water quality of runoff. Assessing and predicting the effect of glaciers on water resources require a monitoring program to provide basic data . Synoptic hydrologic data will be collected before, during, and after the week water-tunnel shutdowns planned for , , and to determine the amount of influence, if any, from the tunnels on water levels in wells and discharge from springs (described below) within the study area(s).

      Illinoian (OIS 6) glaciation covered parts of the study area in northern Illinois and possibly western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota, but much of the study area was affected only by pre-Illinoian glaciation (Goebel et al., , Lineback et al., , Hallberg et al., Start studying Glacier Hydrology.
